THE LAKE DISTRICT
Lakes & mountain scenes from England's Lake District National Park
The Lake District is one of my favourite places on the planet to visit and one of the jewels in the crown is Watendlath, which is a tiny hamlet sitting in a hanging valley between Buttermere & Thirlmere valleys.
This is a view of the picturesque pack horse bridge, with Watendlath Tarn in the background, which spans Watendlath Beck and is the source of Lodore falls.
A magnificent place to rest up, whilst walking along the Eastern side of Ullswater Lake in The Lake District, looking south towards the snow capped peaks of Helvellyn & Nethermost Pike
Ashness Bridge is possibly the most photographed packhorse bridge in the Lake District, Cumbria. It is an extremely popular viewpoint with extensive views over Derwent Water, Brasenthwaite Lake and the River Derwent.
Looking north across one of the longest lakes in The Lake District, Ullswater, on a bright sunny still morning with the water dead calm.
A serene small sailing boat enjoys the early morning sun peeking over the surrounding fells of Ullswater
An early morning view north over Wastwater, the Lake District's deepest lake, towards Great Gable & Scafell massif
